The Academic Development Fund from the Cockrell School of Engineering supports Yang’s efforts to modernize aerospace engineering education through innovative technologies and teaching strategies for the ASE 324L Aerospace Materials Lab course, where undergraduate students gain practical, hands-on experience in materials testing and analysis. Course advancements include integrating Digital Image Correlation – an advanced non-invasive experimental measurement technique – coupled with machine learning for data post-processing; and developing a tailored Large Language Model, called “AeroMatLabGPT” to support students’ individual learning styles.
