Andrea Chavez received her B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas in 2004. With over 15 years working at Bell Textron, Inc., the majority of her experience has been working on research and development projects with a background in helicopter propulsion and drive systems. With the discoveries from her past research projects, Andrea authored American Helicopter Society (AHS) technical papers, briefing the findings at AHS propulsion specialists’ meetings and technical forums. She holds patents for a non-metallic debris monitor and a helicopter driveshaft frictional damper.
In 2015, Andrea was awarded the international Francois-Xavier Bagnoud award, an AHS award given to an individual under the age of 35 for their career-to-date outstanding contributions to vertical flight technology. Then in 2016, she stood proudly on the Longhorn field as one of the recipients to the Outstanding Young Texas Ex award.
She currently is a manager within the Bell Innovation team for contracted research and development. The Innovation team works on the development of next generation unmanned Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) technology. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, Jeremy, and their two sons.
